ACTRESS Rula Lenska and Flog It presenter Paul Martin were in Devizes on Saturday to officially open the art gallery owned by wildlife painter Joanna May.

Ms May also welcomed the Mayor of Devizes Sarah Bridewell and deputy Mayor of Marlborough Margaret Rose to her shop in the High Street.

She said: "It was an amazing day. It was lovely that both Paul and Rula, who are both collectors of my work, could be there. I sold a £10,000 picture of a red leopard so I am calling it my red letter day as I had Rula there with her beautiful red hair and then sold this picture. She must have been my lucky charm.

"Lots of people turned up and it was good to see old customers from when I had my gallery in Marlborough and new customers from Devizes along with other clients and collectors."

Ms May, who opened her gallery in December, said business was going very well. She is now marketing greetings cards featuring her popular seasonal hares and is working on a new canvas entitled Harry and Sally featuring a male and a female hare.
