NEW information boards have been unveiled at the Diamond Jubilee Plantation to mark the Marlborough Community Orchard’s ‘town in orchard’ project.

MCO committee members met Alison Galvin- Wright from the Marlborough in Bloom committee and a selection of the tree sponsors for the unveiling on Saturday, the last day of National Tree Week.

The boards were funded by Marlborough Town Council and outline the project, map the fruit trees planted on the Diamond Jubilee Plantation and credit the sponsors.

Philippa Davenport, chairman of MCO, said: “The project benefits everyone who lives or works in Marlborough, the environment and wildlife.

“It is a genuinely co-operative effort by the community, and each tree is sponsored by a different group or society, or by a local business, or by a family to mark a marriage, the birth of a child or the passing of a loved one.”
