It's the last chance for people to sign up for the pensioners’ Christmas Day lunch in the town hall.

Application forms are available at Jubilee Centre and people have until tomorrow to put their name down.

This is the 11th year that the event has been put on by former Gazette reporter Nigel Kerton and his wife Joy, who are helped on the day by an army of volunteers.

Last year the event attracted 64 guests but ideally Mr Kerton would like to cater for 45 guests to take some of the pressure off the kitchen.

He said: We’ve had people asking about it since Easter.
