THIEVES damaged the Co-op in Aldbourne when they broke in and stole a large quantity of cigarettes.
The incident at the Oxford Street store happed at approximately 3am on Monday, December 1 when the culprits filled a builders sack with the packs of cigarettes. The shop was closed until 1pm on Monday in order for police to carry out investigations.
A spokesman for The Co-operative Food, said: “Our store was broken into in the early hours while the store was closed for the night.
“The intruders caused extensive damage and stole a quantity of cigarettes.
“The store has now re-opened, and we would like to apologise to customers for any inconvenience caused by the temporary closure.
“CCTV coverage has been shared with the police and, as with any incident such as this, we would appeal for anyone with information to come forward.”
