Food lovers helped to raise thousands for Cancer Research UK at the annual Feast of Food on Saturday.

Crowds of foodies filled Marlborough College for the 15th annual event organised by Marlborough Cancer Research UK.

All entry money will be donated to Cancer Research UK and organisers Anne Deuchar and Claire Wilson are hoping to have raised around £10,000.

Mrs Deuchar said: “It went very well indeed we are very pleased with how it went.

“We always aim to raise around £10,000 and this time it seems to have worked which is fantastic.

“We would always love more visitors but we were very pleased with what we got. It’s a well known event in the town so it’s always well supported.”

On the day, 63 exhibitors had treats to tempt visitors including Ramsbury Brewery, Bedwyn Village Bakery, Gastro Nicks, based in Collingbourne Ducis, My Apple Juice, based in Savernake, and Marlborough Mushrooms.

The day was run by a team of volunteers including students from St John’s Academy.

Mrs Deuchar said: “Everyone said it was a very good mix of stalls.

“The students from St John’s acted as porters showing people around which was wonderful.

“We like to get younger people involved because cancer affects people of all ages.

“I think it is really important that youngsters can see that what they are doing is helping to raise money to fight this awful disease.”

Marlborough Cancer Research UK also organise the Spring Fair and to date the group has raised more than £660,000 for the charity.

The group has already started work on the next Feast of Food and are looking for more volunteers to come forward.

Mrs Deuchar said: “It’s a great group to join if you want to get involved with events that raise a lot of money for Cancer Research.”
