Top man for climate talk

MP Ed Davey is coming to Malmesbury in May to give residents and students a talk on climate change.

Wiltshire and town councillor Simon Killane organised the visit a few months ago, before the MP became Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change.

“To have such a high-profile senior government figure come to our little town is quite a thing,” he said.

“I asked him to come a few months ago when I met him at a conference; we were talking about the postal service and he was Under-Secretary to Vince Cable at the time.

“When he became Clim-ate Secretary we didn’t think he would come down but he kept his word.”

The event is at the town hall on Saturday, May 12 at 7pm for a 7.30pm start. Tickets cost £26.50, or £12 for students. The ticket price includes a three-course dinner and coffee.
