Thousands of pounds have been donated to a recreation group in Malmesbury to help pay for playground equipment.

The White Lion Recreation Association, which raises money to improve the park’s grounds, has been given £3,581 by Malmesbury area board.

The money will be spent on a zip wire and a basketball area.

The new facilities are just some of the improvements the association has made to the area, using mostly town council funding. It includes swings, a seesaw, climbing frames and trees.

Association treasurer Dave Harvey said: “The young children can’t wait for the new equipment to go up in July.

“We feel really proud of ourselves because we have got two football pitches and play equipment.”

Town and Wiltshire councillor Simon Killane said: “The residents of the White Lion Recreation Association have continued to improve this park.

“They should be incredibly proud.”
