A FAMILY who set up a fund in the name of a much loved mother who died in 2012 have raised £10,000 for The Brain Tumour Charity.

Ann Jackson, from Oaksey, died after she contracted an infection following surgery on a tumour. Her husband Richard set up the Ann Jackson Fund to help fund research into brain tumours and support those suffering from it.

He would raise money by holding plant sales, and selling teas and cakes.

Following Mr Jackson’s death in March year, the family promised to carry on his work. On Saturday they handed over a cheque for £10,000 to the charity.

Mr Jackson’s son Stuart, from Minety, said: “It was emotional but it is lovely as the aim is to get the awareness out there, of brain tumours in children, as Mum actually had it for most of her life but she didn’t know.

“Dad contracted throat cancer last year and his aim was to raise £10,000 before he left us, but he didn’t quite make it.

“He was about £250 off the target so we carried on as a family.”
