DONKEY'S led a procession of villagers to St Mary with St Ethelbert Church in Luckington on Palm Sunday.

On Sunday, villagers gathered on the village green as part of the Palm Sunday Service before being led in procession to the church by two donkeys named Dougal and Paddy.

Lily Langley, from Luckington, rode one of the donkeys dressed as Jesus to commemorate Jesus entering Jerusalem and palm branches were placed in his path.

PCC member and owner of the Donkeys Fiona Melville, said: "We gathered on the village green where our rector, the Reverend Christopher Bryan and our curate Elveen Mead led us in some prayers and a hymn before blessing the palms.

"Donkeys Dougal, ridden by Lily, and Paddy then led the procession to the church where they received a blessing and the service continued inside the church.

"There was an excellent turnout and it was a record attendance for Palm Sunday in Luckington.
