A SELFLESS dance teacher is offering free dances classes for a year to people who are struggling with issues in their life.

Emma Trickett, who owns Miss Emma's Dancing and Deportment, holds dance classes in Malmesbury and Grittleton, and wants to help people who are going through a tough time in their life, or are struggling with money.

"I put it out there for anyone struggling with money and life, and no questions are asked," she said. "If you look at the world today there is a lot of horrible stuff going on, so I just wanted to put something nice out there.

"I didn't do it for me or for recognition. It is an escape from daily life."

The 32-year-old, who has been dancing for 20 years, knows what it is like to struggle with money, and uses dancing as a form of escapism. She hopes that by offering these free dances classes, others will be able to forget about their worries for a short period of time once or twice a week.

Miss Trickett suffered from a brain injury last year, and still suffers from side effects even now.

She said: "Dance has always been such an escape for me and without that I would be really down.

"I wasn't able to dance for about four months and I really really missed it."

Miss Trickett currently teaches Ballroom and Latin, Swing and Blues, and Salsa, Bachata and Kizomba.

She said: "What I am trying to do is do something nice for other people.

"There are so many benefits you can get from dance, and I want to offer a nice, safe place for people to go so they can be themselves.

"The people who come to my classes are so welcoming and they can build friendships.

"Dancing is such a skill."

Miss Trickett will be offering free tuition for a year for approximately 15 people in 2018.
