THIEVES broke into Malmesbury Abbey and stole money and silverware in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Local reports say the heist took place last night and was confirmed when a cleaner arrived at the 7th century abbey at 8am.
This is not the first time the abbey has been broken into as back in 2009 a tiny 1,000-year-old coin was taken from there too, before later being recovered.
More to follow.
