FUNDRAISERS danced their socks of in Malmesbury Town Hall on Saturday, September 30, as they raised money for three cancer charities.

Bron Maclennan, 68, of Mill Lane, and Diana Boulton, 64, of Gloucester Road, who will be cycling 450km from Vietnam to Cambodia next year, put on a charity fundraising dance headlined by Malmesbury dance band the Dubious Brothers.

From ticket sales, an auction and generous donations, over £3,000 was raised, with money still being counted for CLIC Sargent, Children with Cancer UK, and Teenage Cancer Trust.

“We did it!” Mrs Maclennan explained. “It was a great success and I was so thrilled with it.

“It was great fun I really enjoyed it, it all went amazingly well.

“There was a lot of dancing going on and that was the whole purpose of it.

“The dubious brothers are such fun, and they haven’t played in Malmesbury for a long time. People were very excited to have them again.

“We made over £1,700 on the auction alone which was great.

“Now it’s just up to Diana and I to do the rest and get on our bikes!

“We thank everyone on behalf of Children with Cancer UK, Teenage Cancer Trust and CLIC Sargent who very much appreciate all our efforts.”

Both Mrs Maclennan and Mrs Boulton are paying all expenses for the trip themselves, meaning that all the money raised will be going to the three charities.

Mrs Maclennan wanted to raise £3,000 and has raised £3,160 so far. Mrs Boulton also smashed her £1,800 target, raising an amazing £2,553.10
