AN eighteen-year-old man from Malmesbury has been arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply drugs after police stopped and chased him through the town.
The man was apprehended for trying to flee officers in Foxley Road at 12.30am on Wednesday (May 31) and officers arrested him on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A and B drugs and took him to custody in Melksham. He has since been released under investigation.
Acting Inspector Sean Brady of the North Wiltshire Community Policing Team said: “This is excellent work by local officers in targeting those involved in the supply of drugs. This particular incident was a great example of team work and I’d like to praise the officer for his tenacity in chasing the young man involved on foot.
“Although this man has currently been released under investigation, our enquiries are very much ongoing and the drugs seized have been sent away to be forensically tested.
“We continue to focus on local issues to improve the communities in which we are so fortunate to work. We understand that drugs can have a really negative impact on local communities and we would encourage anyone who suspects drug activity to report it via 101.”
