STAFF at Westonbirt Arboretum were delighted to pick up four awards at the Royal Institute of British Architects South West Awards for their hard work over the last year and their excellent architecture.

The team picked up two regional awards plus the Client of the Year for their project management of the STIHL Treetop Walkway and Wolfson Tree Management Centre and the Sustainability Award for the Wolfson Tree Management Centre at the awards which were held in Bristol on May 23.

The Friends of Westonbirt Arboretum supports Westonbirt Arboretum and helped to raise over £2.4 million for both of these major projects, which have attracted hundreds of thousands of visitors this year.

Mike Mintram, Chair of Trustees said “It’s fantastic for the team to be receiving recognition for all of their hard work. We’re thrilled with the outcomes of both projects, which are now integral parts of the experience here at Westonbirt!”

The efficiency of the Wolfson Tree Management Centre was recognised at the awards, as the team believe that they are saving two hours every day due to the fact they no longer have to travel around the site to collect the necessary machines and equipment.

RIBA South West regional director Jon Watkins said: "RIBA Awards always bring out the best in local and national architects across the South West, and this year’s award-winning projects offer quality, diversity of type and scale, excellence in design, and lots and lots of pure delight."

Westonbirt Arboretum will now be considered for a coveted RIBA National award on June 22.
