A 46-YEAR-OLD man has been arrested on suspicion of burglary after jewellery and a television was stolen from a house in Sherston.

The man was arrested by officers from Wiltshire Borth Community Policing Team 4 at his home address in Tetbury at 4.30am on Tuesday after the items were stolen from a house in Court Street at about 12.15pm on May 11. An untidy search was also carried out on the property.

Police were led to the 46-year-old following detailed witness statements and he has been taken into custody at Gablecross where he currently remains.

Sgt Louis McCoy said: “We’d like to thank the members of the public who helped provide us with detailed descriptions of the suspect. The Community Policing Team have been carrying out enquiries and a successful arrest attempt was made this morning.

“We understand the impact burglaries can have on victims and we would encourage residents to be mindful of their home security. I’d also encourage members of our local community to be vigilant and look out for suspicious behaviour in their neighbourhood. Report anything suspicious via 101, or 999 in an emergency or if a crime is in progress.”
