HUNDREDS flocked to Crudwell Village Hall on Sunday to pay their respects and celebrate the life of treasured teenager Hannah Cubin.

Family, friends and soon-to-be friends poured into the venue from 12-4pm to see a multitude of touching written tributes to the 14-year-old, along with pictures of her through the years, bunting, candles, videos and much more.

Her parents Andy and Dawn Cubin were overwhelmed and a little lost for words at the huge turnout to the event, which was bolstered by nearly every visitor bringing a delectable sweet or savoury dish, which hugely dwarfed their expectations.

"What can I say really? To see so many loving, caring and kind people come here for little Hannah just means the world to me - she was our world," said Mr Cubin.

"If there is a positive to be taken from this which has been some of our darkest days, it is that we are making more and more friends and the fact that we have now raised more than £52,000 for the Wiltshire Air Ambulance is just staggering.

"So many wanted to come to the funeral but we could not fit everyone in so we thought we would host this as well but I really thought it would be a handful of people but the place has been packed - I cannot thank everyone enough."

The teenager, who was who was awarded her first dan black belt in taekwondo last year and was on the radar of national coaches, had her belt put on display and her good friend and fellow Malmesbury taekwondo school competitor Briegan Tombling, 15, will wear her black belt suit in her honour for 2017.

"I was given her black belt suit which means so much to me. She unfortunately never got to wear it like she should have. I will compete at the south west championships this year and will do my best for her," said Briegan.

Jacob Morgan, 14, who also trained at the school, said: "She was great fun to be around and we had a healthy rivalry."

Abi Williams, 14, added: "We loved having her at the taekwondo school. She had a lot of potential and was a great person and always so happy."

On top of this there was a memory tree, giving people a chance to sharing their stories of what made Hannah, who also was passionate about the air cadets, so special.

Mrs Cubin added: "I am so glad that it has gone well and the turnout has been spectacular. I cannot put into words how much everyone's support means to us. She was such a special girl and everyone here seems to think so too. This has been a joyous occasion."

Nigel Alden-Fenn, of the 992 Malmesbury air cadet squadron, said: "She was a wonderful addition to the air cadets and passed her courses with flying colours. What's more she was a lovely and enthusiastic girl."

Claire Kelly, of the Wiltshire Air Ambulance, said: "We are really humbled to see the support the community has given to the Cubin family and the Wiltshire Air Ambulance, their fundraising efforts have been incredible. I know they have taken a lot of solace from how fondly their daughter was remembered."
