A LUCKINGTON couple, who recently won JustGiving's Fundraising Team of the Year for cycling thousands of miles to raise money for cancer treatments, have hit their target of £100,000 in just eight months.

Emmy and Jake Coates, of Bridges Court, who started to raise money for the Royal Marsden Hospital after her diagnosis of a rare terminal medullary thyroid cancer in March, hit their target following a Christmas Carol Concert on Saturday night organised by a Choral Diversity in Herefordshire.

After the event, the couple wrote on Facebook: "Thank you SO much to every single person who, over the last eight months, has made it possible to us to reach this monumental target, which we hope we can keep growing with your generous support.

"You have all played a valuable part in contributing towards the development of life changing (and possibly even life saving) cancer treatments. Words could never do our appreciation justice. You are all heroes!"

The couple, who rallied together following her diagnosis, have also sold more than 1,500 copies of their self-published children's book called Tara & Tyronne: Stuck in the Mud, which is based on their tandem adventure from London to Copenhagen.
