CORSHAM and Chippenham RAFA have presented a shield and a trophy to air cadets in Malmesbury, after the unit collected over a third of the proceeds for the branch in the 2016 Wings Appeal.
The presentation was made by RAFA branch vice president Les James to 992 Squadron Malmesbury at the squadron’s HQ on Tetbury Hill, when branch Wings officer Bert Weir told them that the overall collection for the area amounted to £1,174.76, of which 992 Squadron had collected £400.23.
The trophy to the cadet who collected the most went to Cdt Cpl Ethan Dayley, who collected £96.91, with Cdt Edward Fletcher, who collected £92.66, coming a very close second.
RAFA branch secretary Pat Sparkes said: "We would like to thank ATC 992 Squadron Malmesbury and also 1304 Detached Flight Corsham for all their help and assistance in the collection of our annual Wings Appeal.
"Many thanks to all the cadets who participated and gave their time. This collection goes towards helping serving and ex-service Royal Air force personnel and families who find themselves in difficult circumstances, such as helping with funeral costs and temporary financial and health problems, in our area."
