ALONG with sharing her ambitions for the school, the new headteacher of Sherston Church of England Primary School has said she cannot wait to spend her first Christmas with her pupils.

Sue Leydon, who took the helm in Sherston at the start of this academic year, hopes to continue the school's traditional Christian values and encourage pupils to enjoy their work and explore their ambitions.

"I am enjoying it very much - it is absolutely wonderful," she said. "We have just done a project called iSingPop with the local church and some of the community came and it was a lovely way to end term one. The whole school gave their all for a week and I think they loved it.

"I am now looking forward to my first Christmas with the children and our nativity in December as well as other events such as our Christmas jumper day."

Although Mrs Leydon said it was too early to comment on her vision for the school, she wants to help pupils thrive.

She said: "I want children to love coming to school, to really thrive and to achieve their full potential but not just academically, across the board. I want them to leave us as resilient people ready for any challenge."
