HIRE room charges have been set by the Friends of Riverside for the new community centre which is currently undergoing major refurbishment and will open in the New Year.

The Malmesbury Riverside Community Centre, which is earmarked for a £250,000 cash injection from Wiltshire Council, has opened up its application process for clubs to hire out the area.

Kim Power, Chair of Friends of Riverside, said: “This is a new centre for the whole of the Malmesbury Community Area and complements the range of other local venues. This new centre will be run by Friends of Riverside, all of whom are committed volunteers with a wealth of experience from their community work in the local area.

We have been working with Wiltshire Council for three years to make this happen and are now at the point where we have set the room hire charges for when the centre is open in the New Year. We have made the charges as affordable as we can, because we wish to see as many people as possible use and enjoy Riverside."

The centre will be charging £6 an hour for the smaller rooms and charging £12.50 an hour on weekdays and £15 an hour on Saturdays for the use of the main hall.

Mrs Power added: "Many thanks go to Wiltshire Council, Malmesbury Area Board Councillors John Thomson, Simon Killane, Chuck Berry and Toby Sturgis for their on-going support of Friends of Riverside and thanks to Ollie Phipps, Wiltshire Council Community Engagement Manager for his invaluable help and commitment."
