Sixth form students at Malmesbury School are celebrating achieving fantastic results, with more than 30 per cent of the year group opening their envelopes to discover some A*/A grades.
The grades, which were higher than last year's results, were close to the school's best ever results with the largest entries received in maths and history, with the sciences and English following close behind.
Headteacher Tim Gilson said: "Once again these results show the consistently high performance of the sixth form students at Malmesbury School with 30% of grades at A*/A, 64% of the grades A*/B and 88% A*- C. This year’s results are up on the very good results of last year and are close to our best ever results.
"This is not just about A* and A grades, many students have exceeded their expectations and show real ‘value added’ from their GCSE results. All our sixth form students are to be congratulated for working incredibly hard and achieving such strong academic results in addition to their wider contributions to the leadership of the school. Most of our students will now be going on to excellent universities to pursue their studies.
The school was particularly proud of the students (pictured above), an excellent 13% of the year group, who achieved at least 3 A*/A grades. Nicky Hargreaves, who achieved three A*s in biology, maths and further maths has secured her place to study natural science at the University of Cambridge.
