FESTIVAL spirit swept over Malmesbury and the surrounding villages as Boondocks Festival returned to Foxley for a successful second year.

The homegrown festival reached full capacity at the weekend, welcoming 3,000 festivalgoers of all ages.

Organiser Neil Muttock said: "It was brilliant. It was an amazing weekend and I am trying to come down on the other side of it now. It all went swimmingly and all the team did an outstanding job and although we increased the capacity, we weren't expecting to reach it but we did.

"I didn't get to see all of the events at the festival but what I saw and the feedback I have had is absolutely fantastic."

Quirky British band Molotov Jukebox headlined the festival, along with Land of the Giants, Riot Jazz brass band, Flight Brigade and Martin Luke Brown. Hundreds of volunteers had been working hard all week to ensure the festival ran as smoothly as possible.

"There are hundreds of people involved in running the festival and it's all volunteer work," Mr Muttock said. "People putting up fences and flagpoles, stewarding, working backstage and right up to where we are now, taking it down and litter picking, but all of it comes directly from the community.

"What I love the most about it is all, is moving about the festival and seeing lots of people we know from Malmesbury and the surrounding areas having an amazing time and feeling that togetherness."

Malmesbury street artist Syd also painted a series of panda in Boondocks colours which proved the backdrop for the festival's photo booth.
