A MALMESBURY woman is seeking an apology from a bus company after her son was thrown from his seat and bruised his face when the driver had to do an emergency stop during the journey home.

Lewun Jones, 22, who lives in a village outside Malmesbury, has spoken out against Coach Styles after her three year-old son Reubun hit the side of his face on a pole in front of the disabled bay on bus 31A.

The mother of three said: “I had my two-year-old sat next to me, my two-month-old in a sling and on the other side, in front of the disabled bay, my partner was sat with my three-year-old son.

“Where I was sitting, I could see out of the front of the bus and the driver did an emergency stop. I had to hold my son back, but Reubun went flying and hit his face on the pole in front of him.

“Luckily he moved his face to the side otherwise he probably would have broken his nose and had his teeth smashed out. He came up in bruises straight away and I took him to the walk-in centre because he wasn’t sleeping at all.

“There were no seat belts on the bus so what could I do?”

Miss Jones contacted Coach Styles after the incident in January but only received a reply in May.

Coach Style’s insurance company have since ruled that the driver performed the emergency stop as a result of an unknown third party vehicle and that any liability is denied.

Miss Jones said: “Normally, the buses have cameras on them so I would have thought they would have been able to check what had actually happened. We didn’t even get a proper apology from them and that’s all I want.”

Reubun, whose bruises which extended from his cheek to his eye socket took two weeks to disappear, is now too scared to get on a bus.

When contacted for a comment Lynne Jones, director of Coach Styles, said: “The investigation has happened and the insurance company has made their decision.”
