Hundreds of people wandered round the pop up shops in Sherston this weekend for world's only POP up village.

This year, 45 POP up shops took part in the event which was raising money for Sherston Primary School, Busy Hands Pre School and Sherston Toddlers.

Organiser Kirsty Strachan said: "It was absolutely fantastic. The whole village turned out and they supported all of the POP's. The kids particularly liked the take back the streets party we organised where we closed off a road so they could scoot about on.

"We were so lucky with the weather. Everyone was out on the streets anyway and it really felt like a party and there was a real sense of community spirit.

There was something for everyone at this year's POP, with food shops offering chillies, curries and even crisp sandwiches.

The children also enjoyed a variety of activities from Zorbing, drama groups, mini-golf and enjoying Groovy Gramps' vinyl collections.

Mrs Strachan added: "I can honestly say that during the festival, people were talking about next year's and I think that once you've taken part in a POP, you constantly think about ideas. It's like running your own business for three hours and everyone takes pride in making theirs the best!"

The organisers are still working out how much the weekend raised, but would like to see other villages and towns taking it on in the future.
