THE Prince of Wales is to attending a concert at Malmesbury Abbey organised by Music In Country Churches.

The organisation is holding three concerts at the abbey on Friday and Saturday, May 20 and 21.

The Prince of Wales will be treated to the sound of the English Chamber Orchestra on Saturday at 7.30pm.

Alan Wilkinson MBE, the music director at Music In Country Churches, said: “We do two concerts and the Prince of Wales is coming to the second one. We have been going for 28 years and as patron he has been there from the start.”

The charity was set up in 1989 with the support of the prince, who has attended more than 50 Music In Country Churches concerts to help raise money for to donate to churches which they can use towards costly renovations.

The English Chamber Orchestra will be performing St Paul’s Suite by Holst, Elgar’s Cello Concerto in E minor and Beethoven’s Symphony No 2 in D major during the evening in aid of with money being donated to a church in Tytherton Kellaways.
