A BUSINESS in Malmesbury has caught the eye of Dragons’ Den star Theo Paphitis with its campaign on Small Business Sunday.

The Gluten Free Centre, a free online resource and community hub for people who are gluten free, was recognised by the businessman and former BBC dragon.

Diana Murphy, of Malmesbury, started the Gluten Free Centre with her husband David in 2014, after having to live with a gluten and dairy-free diet for many years.

After tweeting Mr Paphitis during his weekly Small Business Sunday event, Mrs Murphy’s business was picked as a winner, gaining a place on the dragon’s website and receiving exclusive support, networking and business opportunities.

Mrs Murphy said: “We had an amazing time and a chance to meet with representatives from Ryman, Robert Dyas and Red Letter Days amongst many others, providing us not only with potential business opportunities but useful advice."

Last month Mr and Mrs Murphy had the chance to meet Mr Paphitis in person at the annual SBS event, held for winners of the initiative.

Mrs Murphy said: “All SBS winners had the opportunity to ask questions and we learnt so much during the process. It was also great to meet other winners, make friends and do business with each other.

“To have Theo’s support is amazing, as it shows he has recognised our hard work and hence helped spread the word about what we do to his audience. We are overwhelmed with the positive response and interest in The Gluten Free Centre from the start.”
