THE assistant head teacher at Seagry School has stepped down after 13 years in the post.

Gillian Cowen, 56, of Kings Avenue, Chippenham, has just left her post as assistant head teacher after her 13 years at the helm. Mrs Cowen was heavily involved in the school and the events such as the conker championships.

Mrs Cowen said: “I’ve got mixed feelings about leaving, I am leaving so I can spend more time with my family as I have a granddaughter and another grandchild on the way.

“I have had a lovely time at Seagry, the staff, children and school are really lovely. I hope to go back at some point but I need to spend some time with my family. I am really going to miss the children and staff at the school.”

Teacher Emma Damoglou, 45, said: “We are really going to miss her. Mrs Cowen is taking time out to be with her family. Our other teacher Emily Edmondson is going to be taking the position of head.”
