LIFE hasn’t quite been the same for three-year-old Miles Harris after his best pal went missing last week.

Now a Facebook campaign has been launched in Malmesbury to discover the whereabouts of Miles’ beloved teddy, Big Bear.

Miles’ mum Dee said: “He keeps asking for Big Bear and I keep saying ‘he’s at the teddy hospital,’ but I’m not sure how long I can keep this up.

“Miles loves Big Bear. He’s had him since he was born. He’s got millions of other toys but Big Bear is easily his favourite – he’s the most loved.

“Whenever he’s upset, or wants something to cuddle, he goes for Big Bear.”

Big Bear is quite a distinctive looking character because he has a stripy hat.

The last time Big Bear was at the bear hospital – a local seemstress – he was having his hat sewn back on.

Miss Harris, 46, of Poole Road, last remembered seeing Big Bear probably on Monday, June 15.

She said: “Normally I can find the teddy at home, it’s not a big house. But I’ve looked everywhere without luck.”

Big Bear often accompanies Miles and his mum when they cycle to the town park. Miles sits on a child’s bicycle seat while Big Bear occupies the basket at the front.

Miss Harris, who has another son George, 15, said: “We did go to the park last week but I really can’t remember whether Big Bear was with us or not.

“If he was then we might have lost him at the park.”

Big Bear also accompanies the pair to the Kemble airfield to watch the airplanes and they often pop into AV8 café there.

Even while the Gazette & Herald was chatting to Miss Harris about the vanishing teddy Miles could be heard requesting Big Bear’s company.

A friend of Miss Harris’ has now placed an appeal for information leading for the return of Big Bear on the Make Malmesbury Better website.

But so far there have been no sightings. “I don’t know what Miles would do if we didn’t find Big Bear. We would be so grateful if someone found him.”
