MALMESBURY School student Jade Dando has entered this year’s Miss Wiltshire competition with the aim of eliminating beauty queen stereotypes.
Jade, 18, who was runner up in Miss Swindon last year, said: “If I win this year my main aim is to promote the positives of pageants and to eliminate the beauty queen stereotypes.
“Most people believe that you have to be skinny and perfect to win but it’s not true.
“Anyone can take part and win. It’s all about your personality and your passion to help others and get involved within the community.”
She said the Swindon pageant had helped her 'make loads of new friends as well as given me the opportunity to get involved within the community so much more'.'
Since achieving a place in this year’s event Jade, of Lyneham, has been busy arranging a charity event to raise money for the Beauty with a Purpose charity.
She is also designing an environmentally friendly dress for a Miss Eco award she is entering.
The Miss Wiltshire competition takes place at the Urban Village Resort at Shaw Ridge in Swindon on June 27.
