FORMER Swindon Town youth player Christopher Zebroski has been given bail conditions to live and sleep at an address in Bristol after admitting charges of assault and criminal damage.

The Newport County striker, originally of Redhouse, has accepted that on March 29 he assaulted a woman at an address in Malmesbury and damaged the windscreen of her BMW, causing damage to the tune of £300.

He had been granted bail on March 31 when he appeared before Swindon magistrates and pleaded guilty to both charges before him, and the conditions of his bail were amended yesterday (Wed).

The 28-year-old footballer, who had been living in Corn Gastons, Malmesbury, will not be permitted to enter Swindon except for court hearings and appointments with solicitors. He must live and sleep at a new address in Fishponds Road, Bristol, and he has been banned from entering any licensed premises which sells alcohol.

Zebroski also remains on bail for two further matters, including assault with intent to rob and robbery, said to have occurred in Swindon on December 14 last year and February 8 this year.

A sentencing hearing for Zebroski has now been set for April 21 at Swindon Crown Court in order for matters to tie up with the two other allegations against him.

Following the accusations made against Zebroski last month, his club Newport County vowed to stand by their star striker until the conclusion of all court proceedings, but a decision has not yet been made on the player’s future.

The prolific forward was Newport County’s top scorer last season and was voted Newport County Player Of The Year by readers of the South Wales Argus.

A spokesman for Newport County said: “Newport County AFC can confirm that officials of the club have met with striker Chris Zebroski regarding recent newspaper reports.

“The club will be working closely with Chris and The PFA to provide support during this time.

“The club have concluded that today is not the time for a decision to be made on the player’s future at the club as the priority is the welfare and wellbeing of Chris.”
