FARMERS in Malmesbury spread a little muck – along with a lot of good will - on a dung distribution day.

Around 15 members of Malmesbury Young Farmers’ Club took part in what they described as a Muckathon to raise money for the Wiltshire Air Ambulance.

Club chairman Charlotte Taylor said: “We filled a trailer of cow manure and sold it in bags and barrels.

“Earlier, we had spread the word through Facebook and distributed leaflets.

“Then we knocked on doors to see which keen gardeners were in need of a little fresh manure.”

She added: “It was great weather and there was a really good atmosphere as we went around the Malmesbury area. The muck was very well received.

“People were really supportive people, either by buying our excellent dung or simply making a donation.”

Added to cash recently raked in from a charity auction Malmesbury Young Farmers are now well in their way to raising £2,000 for the life-saving air ambulance.
