CHRISTMAS came three months late for Cubs in Malmesbury – and they couldn’t have been happier.
Members of the 1st Malmesbury (King Athelstan) group received a £400 cheque from local car firm Hyams Autos yesterday.
The company raised the money with an annual Christmas lights display at its High Street premises.
Hyams spokesperson Judy Clark said that during Malmesbury’s late night Christmas shopping event in December they put up a sign inviting the public to donate money for charity if they liked the Christmas lights at their garage.
She said: “We had a fantastic response and raised £400. People obviously liked our lights.
“We heard the Cubs were hoping to buy some tents so we thought we’d help them do it with this money.”
Last year a similar amount was raised via Hyams Christmas lights display in aid of Malmesbury people who suffered flood damage.
