Sherston Primary School set to mark first decade
CHILDREN in Sherston will celebrate the first decade of the village’s £1.6 million school with a series of events later this year.
This weekend is the tenth anniversary of the opening of Sherston Primary School and marks the end of 150 years of history when the community’s Victorian school finally closed.
The creation of a much needed 21st Century school was financed with the sale of land in the village which resulted in earlier plans to modernise the original premises dropped.
On February 22, 2004 the new Sherston Primary School was blessed by the Bishop of Bristol.
The school will be holding events later in the year to commemorate the move when the weather improves.
