Pupils across Marlborough learned about the potential dangers online when police visited their schools for Safer Internet Day.
The Marlborough neighbourhood policing team offered to go to all schools in the area to promote responsible use of the internet and four schools took part.
PCSOs Mark Braithwaite and Polly Ritchie went to Chilton Foliat School, St Peter’s, Preshute and Kennet Valley Primary School on Tuesday to spread the message about staying safe online.
PCSO Braithwaite said: “It’s a government-led initiative and it was a good way to teach the children about safety online.
“We explained about stranger danger on the internet, using chat rooms and about going on sites that they shouldn’t be going on and even using games that they are not old enough to use.
“It was surprising how many children play games like Call of Duty which is for over-18s. Some of the things we talked about we didn’t know, so it was useful for us as well – it was a two-way learning experience.”
