ONE of rock music’s legendary performers, former Led Zeppelin frontman Robert Plant, will be playing at Westonbirt Arboretum, near Malmesbury, this summer.

Plant and his new band, The Sensational Space Shifters, will appear at the woodland arena on Friday, July 10.

It is one of just two forest gigs he is doing this year, the other being at Cannock Chase in Staffordshire the following night.

The shows follow the release of his tenth solo album, Lullaby and…The Ceaseless Roar.

The rock frontman’s confirmation for Westonbirt comes after a string of sold out shows last year.

Paul Cody, the head of visitor attraction at Westonbirt Arboretum, said: “We are delighted to secure a date with Robert Plant and The Sensational Space Shifters as part of this year’s Forest Live concert series.

“With Paloma Faith and Tom Odell already announced and further acts to come, we hope the eclectic mix of artists appearing will provide a great night out for all music lovers.”

Robert Plant, who has spent almost 50 years in the music industry, is best known for singing Led Zeppelin classics such as Stairway To Heaven and Whole Lotta Love.

However, he has declined moves to reform the band for a lucrative world tour, in favour of exploring new forms of music with The Sensational Space Shifters.

The promoters of the Westonbirt concert promise an exceptional show, with tracks from the 2014 album and new interpretations of some Led Zeppelin classics, plus other solo material.

Income from Forest Live tickets is spent on protecting, improving and expanding England’s forests and woodlands, both for the benefit of visitors and wildlife.

Tickets for Robert Plant, which go on sale from 9am tomorrow, are £48.50 each, plus a £4.85 booking fee.
