A toddler was airlifted to hospital on Monday, after a serious allergic reaction.

An ambulance service rapid response vehicle was sent to Malmesbury just after 1pm amid fears about the 15-month-old girl’s condition.

Wiltshire Air Ambulance was summoned from Devizes at 1.15pm and arrived five minutes later.

The youngster, who has not been named, was given emergency medication before she and her mother were flown to Bristol Children’s Hospital.

Air ambulance paramedic Steve Riddle said the child’s condition had “improved significantly” during the ten-minute flight to Bristol. He said: “This was a result of the medication.”

Mr Riddle was unable to say what caused the reaction.
