A nursery in Malmesbury is well prepared for any new year snowstorms after building its own igloo.
Steve Paginton, of K&S Childcare in Pool Gastons Road, used more than 1,000 plastic milk bottles to create a replica eskimo home – much to the delight of the children.
The former maintenance engineer spent about 20 hours patiently sticking the bottles together with a hot glue gun.
He said: “One of the girls that works for us saw one on the internet that was made with about 400 milk bottles.”
The childcare group started collecting bottles to build a similar structure and the response was impressive.
“People just kept bringing them in,” said Mr Paginton.
A plastics company in Stroud also donated 200 bottles. Mr Paginton said the group would consider a similar project next year.
Meanwhile, all the youngsters are looking forward to huddling in their very own igloo if the weather turns white.
