Sgt Martin Alvis
A replacement for neighbourhood sergeant Martin Alvis is expected to be announced next month.
It is understood three officers have applied for the role, made vacant when Sgt Alvis, who had been in the position six years, moved to a custody assignment in Melksham at the end of 2014.
Residents had raised a petition in a bid to keep him in the post.
