AN appeal has been made to fill a vital co-ordinator vacancy for Malmesbury and District Link involving working for four hours a fortnight to help the frail and elderly in the area.

Link, a team of volunteer drivers, offers lifts to GPs' surgeries, chiropodists, dentists and hospital outpatient departments. The service is aimed at the most vulnerable and is available to all regardless of means.

But Link drivers need a team of volunteer co-ordinators to take clients' phone requests and then contact the drivers to arrange the journeys.

After Christmas a co-ordinator vacancy will arise for every other Wednesday morning but there is flexibility, said Link chairman Christopher Blount.

He said: "The co-ordinator needs to be comfortable with using a computer but no special skill is required and full induction training will be given."

For further information, prospective volunteers can ring Link co-ordinator and volunteer support officer Fee Knowles on 01666 837967.
