Grandmother Ros Bates helped raise more than £300 for Children In Need when she walked to work on a chilly Friday morning in her son’s pyjamas.

She was accompanied on the streets of Sherston by her pal Anthea Young, who had donned a gorilla onesie.

“Luckily it wasn’t raining so we didn’t get wet,” said Mrs Bates 67, who, at 5ft 2ins, had manoeuvred herself into the pyjamas of her 6ft 2ins tall son Rob, 42.

The women, who both work at Sherston Village Store and Post Office, spent much of the rest of the day raising cash in a variety of ways.

“We certainly gave our customers a giggle and our appearance definitely helped put them in the spirit of the day,” said Mrs Bates.

She went on: “The customers were great, so a big thank you to them and especially all the children who entered our loom band competition. “We had 14 entries into who could make the longest loom band. The longest was over 22 metres.”

She added: “It was a great day. We ended up raising raised a massive £313.”
