Pupils at Dauntsey’s School are celebrating after its tall ship, Jolie Brise, won the annual Cowes Small Ships’ Race.
Ten pupils from the school on High Street, West Lavington, joined the 101-year-old ship in the Solent to take part.
This year 27 boats competed in the youth-orientated race, in which half of each boat’s crew must be aged between 12 and 25.
Jolie Brise, which is owned, maintained and sailed by the pupils of Dauntsey’s School, was placed first overall on corrected time by ten minutes, as the start times for the race are staggered.
Skipper Adam Seager said: “This is a tough race and although it was cold and wet, spirits were high.
“The race started just as a cold front came through, making for wet and windy conditions and poor visibility but the Dauntsey’s crew sailed the boat fantastically and we were thrilled to be in a winning position.”
