More than 100 people attended Malmesbury’s first University of the Third Age meeting last Friday.
The Third Age Trust is based on an organisation in France but has found popularity in England where ‘Third Agers’ organise their own activities to learn new skills and expertise.
The first age is learning at school, the second phase of learning occurs at work and the third is when retired, and semi-retired, people choose to learn whatever they like.
Commonly known as the U3A, the organisation held a meeting in July to gauge interest and will now hold monthly meetings, with guest speakers, on the last Thursday of each month.
The first meeting took place at the Town Hall.
