Aldridge's Devizes auction rooms once again became the set for a TV antiques show when the Antiques Road Trip arrived at a regular sale of collectibles on Saturday.

Presenters Charlie Ross and Catherine Southon were at the event as part of recording for the BBC TV series – and it turned out that Ms Southon has a lot in common with Henry Aldridge & Son.

Auctioneer Alan Ald-ridge said: “Cat is Soth-eby’s expert on Titanic memorabilia and she congratulated us on what we have done for that area of speciality.”

Aldridge’s have established an international reputation for the estimation and sale of items connected with the famous maritime disaster that took place 100 years ago this month.

Aldridge’s Bath Road Business Centre salerooms have hosted such antiques shows as Flog It!, Celebrity Cash in the Attic and Bargain Hunt.

Among items on offer on Saturday were a 17th or 18th-century six-pounder cannon, which sold for £2,000, three Christmas cards from the Prince of Wales and Princess Diana, which sold for between £750 and £1,000, and an autograph by Sir Winston Churchill.
