Children on the drama workshop held at Southbroom Infants School
School holiday boredom was banished for youngsters who took part in a three day drama workshop in Devizes.
They did a mixture of drama, singing and dancing to a version of Roald Dahl’s story Matilda.
The workshop was organised by Bright Lights Drama, run by Devizes mum Becky Luzi.
Mrs Luzi set up Bright Lights in March last year after she moved to Devizes and was not able to find a suitable drama class for her son, now 11.
Mrs Luzi taught dance and drama at various schools in London. She runs weekly drama and musical theatre classes at Southbroom Infants School, Devizes, for children aged two to 16.
The Matilda workshop was attended by ten youngsters, aged six to 14, and on the final day they gave a 20 minute performance comprising four scenes and two songs.
Mrs Luzi said: “The children gave really positive feedback and parents said how much they enjoyed it on Facebook. The children had a great time and at the end of it they produced something they can be quite proud of.
“They took part for five hours a day, it was quite intense, and it meant they could get a lot done.
“The children are really enthusiastic and go for it. I give them an idea and they amaze me by how much they are able to create themselves – that’s what makes it so exciting.”
