Revised plans for the former jam factory site in Easterton have been submitted.
Owners Comparo were granted planning permission in 2010 to build 43 houses on the site but the scheme was not implemented.
Now Comparo, based in Bristol, has submitted a planning application for 38 homes on the site.
Although there are five fewer homes the new scheme proposes larger houses to increase the commercial value of the development. The layout and design has also been changed.
The site, in Kings Road, has been standing empty since Hazlewood Foods closed it in 1998. A number of buildings remain derelict on the site.
Comparo consulted residents in November and of 32 people who responded the majority accepted the site would be redeveloped.
Easterton Parish Council will consider the application at its meeting on February 13 at the village hall at 7.30pm. The developer will be in attendance.
