HOURS of training are about to pay for for a community paramedic who is taking on the London Marathon for Hospice UK.
Kate Briscoe has been a paramedic for 24 years, working from Southampton for the majority of her career before joining the community team in Devizes two years ago.
After being rejected from the original ballot, she was successful in gaining entry in January, giving her just 4 months to train for the epic fitness event this year taking place on April 22.
Ms Briscoe, from East Chisenbury Pewsey, 54 said: “I am not a natural runner and feeling older with every run! But this is really my way to give back and say thank you to the hospice services.
“I see them at work during my role as a community paramedic and so I see the amazing work they do.
“It is such an amazing service, they were so supportive of family and extended family.
“My goal is to run and walk my way round the course and make it across the finish line. I have completed one long run which was 22.5 miles.”
Ms Briscoe has already raised £620 towards her £2,000 goal.
