FAMILY run construction and engineering business Reeds is thriving after settling in to their new premises in Market Lavington.

The company, which offers plant machinery sales, repairs and hire as well as construction processes, made the move last year and has seen the business benefit from new offices, a large workshop and yard space.

Family man Arthur Reed founded the business 35 years ago by working out of the back of his van to repair construction and agricultural equipment, and found himself unable to handle the workload alone.

“Growing up in an area where everyone was involved in farming, I had a lot of contacts.” He said.

Mr Reed’s son Tom joined the business 21 years ago and they became joint directors of the company.

They now have a dedicated team of around 50 staff including skilled engineers who can travel to customers nationally.

Tom said: “We think the key to our success is the importance we place on customer service.

“We really value our relationships with our customers, and we are small enough to maintain that relationship, but big enough to meet their needs.

“Our business is run on strong family values, we have a close knit team here.

“Our move to the new offices certainly helped with business, and we have a much nicer work environment for our team now.”

The company’s longest serving employee Mark Davis, 54, has been with Reeds for 26 years.

He said: “I have always been in the industry, and was working as a plant mechanic when I was made redundant from my previous job.

“Arthur then hired me as a fitter and I have worked my way up from there.”
