A GOLF day in memory of a man who died in a road accident has raised more than £1,700 for Wiltshire Air Ambulance.

Darren Fordham from Devizes organises an event every year to remember his brother Ricky who died in 2007 aged 36 but this year decided to raise money for charity.

He said: "We were both keen golfers and thought this was a great idea to keep his memory alive. Year on year Rick's golf day has become very popular and well supported around Devizes by a big group of friends, most of which didn't even know him.

"I cannot express how humbled I am by the support every year by all involved. This year I suggested that because we are such a big group there was no reason we couldn't raise money for charity.

"The Golf day was held at Donnington Valley, Newbury followed by a buffet, presentation and raffle held at the Moonrakers in Devizes. I received lots of support from local business who each sponsored a hole."

A total of £1,758 was raised for Wiltshire Air Ambulance.
