THE flags are out for a Devizes park which has kept its prestigious rating as one of the best in the world for the fourth year running.

Hillworth Park has been given a Green Flag Award which shows it is a quality green space, beautifully maintained and with excellent visitor facilities.

Devizes Mayor Nigel Carter said: "We are absolutely delighted to receive a Green Flag Award for fourth year in a row.

“We know how much quality green spaces matter to residents and visitors, and this award celebrates the dedication that goes into maintaining Hillworth Park to such a high standard."

International Green Flag Award scheme manager Paul Todd said: “We are delighted to be celebrating another record-breaking year for the Green Flag Award scheme.

“Each flag is a celebration of the thousands of staff and volunteers who work tirelessly to maintain the high standards demanded by the Green Flag Award. The success of the scheme, especially in these challenging times, demonstrates just how much parks matter to people.”

Hillworth was one of 1,797 parks in the UK to be announced as a Green Flag winner last week.

Devizes Town Council direct services manager Sarah Williams said: "Since the completion of its refurbishment in 2012, Hillworth Park has become an important community assets offering space for relaxation, play and meeting friends.

"Winning this award also confirms that the park is maintained to a high standard using good horticultural practices whistled being mindful of any environmental impact."
