ANZAC House care home in Devizes which has been empty for two years has been bought by a care provider and a new home is expected to open next summer.

Last year it was announced that LNT Care Developments had bought the empty building in London Road and had got planning permission to knock it down and create a new 66 bedroom home.

Now the development company has sold the yet to be built home to Sanctuary Care which says it will be employing around 70 people in jobs ranging from care assistants to home managers. It expects the home to open in July, 2018.

The Devizes home is one of three bought by Sanctuary. Group director Nathan Warren said: “The expansion of Sanctuary’s care services through the purchase of these three high-quality homes reflects the Group’s strategic ambitions. One of our core charitable objectives is to provide care services to those who need it, and these new homes will help us achieve that aim.”

Mark McCarthy from Sanctuary added: “We are delighted to have agreed this purchase which will enable us to support even more people around the country to receive the care they require in stylish, contemporary and high quality environments.

“Sanctuary Care is keen to provide the best possible quality homes to residents and their families, and in particular to ensure that we offer dementia-friendly surroundings.”

Nick Broadbent, development director, LNT Care Developments, said: “LNT Care Developments are very much looking forward to working with Sanctuary to create three superb assets for the local communities.

“The facilities will utilise best practice dementia design in quality modern surroundings while also benefiting from ground source heat pumps, solar thermal panels and LED lighting.”
